Curtain Walling

A curtain wall system is an outer covering of a building where the outer walls are non-structural. They are typically designed with lightweight aluminum framing, which reduces the cost of construction, compared with building a fully structural outer wall.

Curtain walls are designed to resist air and water infiltration, withstand wind loads, absorb sway induced by wind and seismic forces acting on the building, and support its own dead load weight forces.

The aluminum frame is typically infilled with glass, which provides an architecturally pleasing building, as well as providing benefits such as allowing daylight to enter the building. When designing the structure, Stag Aluminium gives consideration to thermal expansion and contraction, water diversion and thermal efficiency, for effective heating and cooling within the building.

Stag Aluminium’s Technical Department can advise on the most suitable glass specification for each individual project, taking into account the positioning of the building and whether solar glass would be needed to reduce the amount of light entering a building. In addition to glazing, or to complement a part-glazed Curtain Wall, other infills can include aluminium panels in a wide range of RAL colours, louvres, and opening windows or vents.

Stag Aluminium’s High Rise Curtain Walling with a slim 52mm sightline is our most flexible aluminium curtain wall system, designed to give specifiers a host of aesthetic options for every application. The enhanced thermal performance exceeds current building regulations.

Curtain walls differ from Shop front systems in that they are designed to span multiple floors. Stag Aluminium also manufacture Shop fronts in Aluminium. Each of the systems are designed to be fully suited with our Commercial Entrance Doors, Windows and Residential Door systems.
